“Old” is an interesting album, and definitely a one-of-a-kind. It’s easily Starflyer’s best incarnation, line-up wise. Jason Martin, Jeff Cloud, Frank Lenz, AND Richard Swift together for this one single album that finds SF59 at perhaps their most accessible and catchy, and also their most experimental, incorporating various elements into these songs that were never heard on any previous SF59 albums, or any album since. It’s the same steady cool that you can absolutely rely on from a Starflyer record twisted up in a trippy, rocking, Floyd-esque haze.
